Iwataya Mitsukoshi Ltd. has released a second announcement on the remodeling of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi and LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, ahead of the remodel opening in autumn 2027.
In addition to the floor concepts for the whole building, some of the main tenants of the LACHIC zone on the upper floors have been announced.
Fukuoka Mitsukoshi and LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin to Reopen After Remodeling in Autumn 2027
Fukuoka Mitsukoshi and LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin have been remodeled in stages since spring 2026, with the remodel opening scheduled for autumn 2027. The stores remain open during the renovation work.
The concept for the whole facility is "selective consumption." At Fukuoka Mitsukoshi, the department store on the lower floors, the focus is on "high-sensibility, high-quality consumption," proposing consumption for "special moments" through authenticity and a refined lifestyle.
At LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin, the specialty store zone on the upper floors, the focus is on "neighborhood consumption," offering consumption that creates connections with communities starting from one's own "likes" and interests.
The two facilities are said to aim to raise the appeal of the whole building while sharing their respective roles.
One of Kyushu's Largest "animate" Stores to Open on the 8th Floor
On the 8th floor of LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin, the largest "animate" in the Kyushu area will open under the floor concept "fan activities and character neighborhood." It opens on October 24, 2026.
"animate," a specialty store for anime, comics and games, operates 125 stores nationwide. The LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin store will offer character goods and comics, as well as "animate Gratte," where you can enjoy graphic lattes printed with characters, and "animate Cafe," which serves collaboration menus with popular anime and game titles.
In addition, many areas will make their first appearance in Kyushu, including "Space A la mode," which sells apparel in collaboration with anime and manga, "Space Galleria FUKUOKA," a paid exhibition space, and "CyConveni," an official shop for Cygames content with a convenience store concept.
Events to commemorate the opening are also planned, and the opening date may differ for some areas.
One of Kyushu's Largest "@cosme STORE" Locations Scheduled to Open on the 6th Floor
On the 6th floor of LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin, the "@cosme STORE" with the largest sales floor area in the Kyushu area is scheduled to open under the floor concept "own-values neighborhood." The opening is scheduled for June 30, 2027.
"@cosme STORE" is a cosmetics select shop with the theme "try, discover, find your destined cosmetics." Based on review data from the comprehensive cosmetics and beauty site "@cosme," it carries a wide range of brands, from drugstore to department store cosmetics.
The store will have ranking shelves featuring trending items and seasonal feature corners, offering a space with new discoveries at all times. Counseling by beauty advisors is also available, enabling a shopping experience tailored to diverse needs regardless of age or gender.

Future Plans
Through the remodeling of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi and LACHIC Fukuoka Tenjin, Iwataya Mitsukoshi Ltd. says it aims to deepen its relationship with each customer and create a new commercial experience.
