On September 16, 2026, Dyson Japan Ltd. held "Dyson Beauty presents Makiko Takizawa Talk Show," a launch event for its new product, the "Dyson Supersonic Nural™ Shine Hair Dryer," designed with consideration for heat damage to hair and scalp.
Model Makiko Takizawa appeared as a guest, speaking about her experience using the Dyson hair dryer she has loved for many years and how she approaches her hair through daily hair care.

Dyson introduces the appeal of its new hair dryer at an event featuring Makiko Takizawa
In the talk show, Makiko Takizawa named careful daily hair care as the secret to keeping her hair beautiful. Even when she is busy, she makes it a habit to brush before and after shampooing and to dry her hair thoroughly before going to bed.

As the reason she has long loved Dyson hair dryers, she cited that they dry hair thoroughly without relying on excessive heat, with consideration for the hair and scalp. Takizawa commented, "Before I found Dyson, I wasn't that particular about hair dryers, but since I started using one, I've come to realize how important it is to dry hair while being mindful of heat damage. It dries well even though it isn't hot, and my hair doesn't get too hot, so it's reassuring."
Regarding the shine tool that comes with the Dyson Supersonic Nural™ Shine Hair Dryer, she described its effect: "Using it smooths the surface of the hair, and I could feel the difference in shine. I was surprised that if I finish properly at night, my hair stays manageable until the next morning." She also touched on the temperature display built into the unit, expressing surprise at the technology that adjusts the temperature automatically and at the sensor lamp color that shows the temperature at a glance.

During the talk, Takizawa also mentioned the trust she has always felt in Dyson products. She said she has long used a Dyson vacuum cleaner at home, drawn by its design, powerful suction, ever-evolving technology and comprehensive support. She added that her hair dryer is something she can't do without, bringing it with her whenever she travels, both in Japan and abroad.
"Dyson Supersonic Nural™ Shine Hair Dryer," focused on heat damage to hair and scalp
At the event, Vijeeta Ramachandran, an engineer at Dyson headquarters who serves as Beauty Design and Development Manager, took the stage. Based on Dyson's hair science research, she explained that controlling heat damage is important to protect the shine of hair.
For more than 10 years, Dyson has studied the structure of hair and the mechanisms of damage at hair labs around the world, applying that knowledge to the development of hair care products. Through this research, it has focused not only on hair but also on the health of the scalp that forms its foundation.
The Dyson Supersonic Nural™ Shine Hair Dryer, developed from this knowledge, features Scalp Mode, Dyson's own automatic temperature adjustment function, and is designed to dry hair while taking care to limit heat damage to the hair and scalp. A ToF (Time of Flight) sensor measures the distance between the dryer and the hair and scalp in real time and automatically lowers the air temperature as it gets closer, keeping the scalp surface temperature at 55°C when Scalp Mode is used. Through its own research, Dyson positions 55°C as a temperature that allows it to take care of the scalp's moisture level and barrier function while maintaining quick drying.
Comparative test data showed that, when Scalp Mode was used, the scalp's barrier function increased threefold*¹ and shine improved by 96%*². These results demonstrate the outcome of Dyson's hair science and engineering, in which controlling heat protects the scalp's moisture and smooths the cuticle.
