The German furniture brand ROLF BENZ announced on October 9 an exhibition with contemporary artist Yuta Okuda, "Living with Gratitude." It will run from Friday, October 30 to Tuesday, November 24 at ROLF BENZ TOKYO in Jingumae, Tokyo.
Furniture and art in a single living room
The exhibition places ROLF BENZ furniture and Okuda's works on equal footing, composing a living space that brings out the shapes and colors of each. The project draws on the world of Okuda's "with Gratitude" series, which expresses daily gratitude through flower motifs.
By placing the works within an interior, the exhibition lets visitors see furniture and paintings together. The venue, ROLF BENZ TOKYO, is a one-floor showroom filled with natural light.
Flower works drawn with layered paint and fine lines
One of the featured works, "Abstract Bouquet 260116 (Pearl White x Gold)," takes a bouquet as its motif and combines flowing, layered paint with fine line work. It is based on pearl white and gold.
Also featured are "Abstract Wreath 251103," which likewise uses white and gold, and "Watching You 241216 (Gold x Gold)," which layers pen line work over the texture of the paint. Okuda worked as a fashion designer before becoming an artist in 2016.
