On October 9, NAKED, Inc. announced details of "NAKED GARDEN NIGHTS Higashi Honganji and Shosei-en." The event runs from October 31 to December 6. Visitors walk from the Honbyo area of Higashi Honganji to Shosei-en, enjoying a different night view in each place.
Lotus lights at Goei-do Hall, the moon reflected at Ingetsu-ike Pond
"LIGHT IN BLOOM," presented at Goei-do Hall of Higashi Honganji, is a work in which many small lights line up in layers to form a vast lotus scene. You can experience a different side of the temple grounds from the daytime. The photos shown are artist's renderings.
At Ingetsu-ike Pond in Shosei-en, "FIRST SCENE | GARDEN OF THE MOON" is presented. A large moon floats above, and autumn scenery is reflected one after another on the water.
At "FOURTH SCENE | LIGHT ACROSS TIME" at Shinsetsu-kyo Bridge and Tanpu-kei Valley, you can enjoy lights of water lilies on the water, set against autumn foliage and the Kyoto cityscape. "FIFTH SCENE | SONG OF THE STREAM" at Rinchi-tei combines the building reflected on the water with the sound of a murmuring stream.
Shosei-en only on some days; note the admission times too
November 6–8 and 25 are special dates when only Shosei-en is open. On regular days the event runs from 18:00 to 22:00. At Higashi Honganji, last admission is 21:00 and viewing ends at 21:20; at Shosei-en, viewing ends at 22:00. Depending on the queue, reception may close before 21:00.
Tickets are announced on the official website, and early-bird tickets are sold until 23:59 on October 30. Entry to the upper floor of Goei-do Gate requires a separate special viewing plan through EX Tabisaki Yoyaku. A regular ticket does not give access to every area.
